About Gabrielle

My name is Gabrielle Smith and I was born on June 10, 2000. When I was 10 weeks old, it was discovered I had a disease called Biliary Atresia and I almost died. Luckily my parents and my doctors and all the wonderful folks at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto figured out what was wrong and I had operations that saved my life.

I started playing the violin when I was five years old with instruction from my wonderful teacher, Ruth Kaufmann. Three years later, my mentor, Yvon Caza discovered that I had what he calls “a gift” for playing the fiddle.

I have been playing the fiddle ever since and love performing in front of audiences.

I live on a farm in Northern Ontario, Canada with my Mommy and Daddy and all sorts of pets. We have two dogs, three horses and five cats (my father puts up with the cats) and a lot of gold fish.

I love riding, barrel racing, figure skating, skiing, snow shoeing, canoeing and, of course, fiddling.

When I grow up, I want to be a fashion designer but I will always want to play the fiddle and perform and make people happy.
